The Elms– Te Papa Tauranga, one of the Bay of Plenty’s oldest heritage sites. As a place of early contact between Māori and Pākehā, this historic site remains at the centre of Tauranga’s history and identity today. Encompassing category one listed heritage buildings and nationally significant collections – all set within a diverse and tranquil garden setting – this one hectare property is a must-see destination for visitors to the region.

The Tauranga Art Gallery is the first public art gallery in the western Bay of Plenty. Situated on the corner of Wharf and Willow Streets, in the heart of the CBD, the building has been designed to meet modern art gallery standards. The Gallery opened to the public on Saturday 20th October 2007. The Gallery delivers exhibitions of historical and contemporary art.

The Zeus Gallery– Operating since 2013 under owner Elliot Mason, Zeus Gallery showcases established and emerging artists primarily from the Bay of Plenty and surrounds. Named for owner Elliot Mason’s much loved black border collie/labrador cross, Zeus Gallery relocated in 2016 from its original site at 11th Avenue. Accessible from Marsh Street (off Chapel Street), parking can be found in front or behind the shop.

The Brain Watkins House is a unique historic property located near the central business district of Tauranga city. Built in 1881 by Joseph Brain, it is registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as a Category II Historic Place. Occupied by one family for nearly 100 years and filled with original contents, the house offers an insight into the life of a middle class European family of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Pohutukawa Gallery (Mount Maunganui)– opened its doors in December 2004, situated downtown Mount Maunganui in the heart of “The Mount”. Within walking distance to the bustling surf beach “Main Beach” and the quieter harbour “Pilot Bay”, the popular downtown shopping area sits right in the middle of a peninsula with the iconic Mount Maunganui (Mauao) on the end of the spit.
